a change of scenery might be good for Andre Smith. It doesn't seem anyone wants to actually be in Cincy.

I thought Andre Smith had 10-year multi Pro Bowler written all over him during his college career. Then he pulled that shit at the combine and it was all downhill from there.

Tice drooling and what we can draft are two different animals.

...“I’d rather get medical examinations than traveling all over the country to 230 different places,” Dorsey said.
In recent years, a lot of GM types have weighted the interviews more heavily. Emphasis on character has never been greater.
“Every team is going to approach those 15 minutes a little differently. I think you can get a basic feel for who he is, but I think these guys are so prepped and so trained today that there’s too big of a wall in that setting. If you can create it like a locker room, because that’s where they’re going to have to exist, I think you can find the five factors it’s going to take to succeed,” Dorsey said of the intangibles he seeks in a prospect.
What are those five factors?
“One, are they a good guy? Two, do they work at their craft? Three, do they love football? Four, are they going to be good in the locker room? And five, would you like to have them as your neighbor?” Dorsey answered.
What kind of draft class is this?
“Average,” he said. “The strength of the draft is probably running back, defensive ends, offensive tackles, the top side of the (wide receiver) position. I think (cornerback) is good; I don’t think it’s great. I think safeties are down. I think tight ends are really down.
“The big unknown is the quarterback position. There’s no clear cut (number) one, yet. There are four, five guys who have a chance to establish themselves if they do that right,” Dorsey added.
It was expected that this would be a banner year for quarterbacks. Some scouts think it still is, but Dorsey is skeptical.
What happened?
“Spread option offense,” he said. “How do you transfer a quarterback from a spread option offense to a pro system?”
Fortunately, the Packers don’t have to worry about that. After all, they really don’t need a quarterback, right?

Lovie extended... as expected, though thankfully not for any longer than he was. Kreutz sounds like he's next in line.
So far it certainly looks like Halas Hall is in ultra play-it-safe mode. Would be very surprised to see more than one or two FAs signed this offseason and those will likely be 2nd tier guys... a guy to replace Tino, maybe, and possibly a S if we let Manning walk.
I hope they are able to significantly upgrade our deficient positions in the draft, otherwise it's looking like same old same old, which will translate to fewer wins next season and likely, no playoffs.

Bears take aim Chicago Bears coach Lovie Smith, fresh off signing a two-year contract extension this week, said he’s gotten over losing at home in the NFC championship game to the Packers, who went on to beat Pittsburgh in the Super Bowl.
“We’re long past that right now,” Smith said at his press conference Friday morning at the NFL scouting combine. “We were beaten by the better team that day, they beat everyone. There’s only one team in the end, of course, that really feels good about what they’ve done. We know that we’re close, we played the Super Bowl champions as well as anyone during the year, and we need to, they’re in our division, like some other of our division opponents. We feel like we’ll make ground on them next year.”
One of the first questions for Smith was about the Bears’ overriding issue in the NFC championship, the knee injury that prevented quarterback Jay Cutler from playing after the first series of the second half.
Cutler sustained torn cartilage in his knee late in the first half and after trying to play the first series of the second half came out of the game and didn’t return. He remained on the sidelines the rest of second half, which raised questions that some players from around the league expressed on Twitter about his toughness.
“Just to kind of hit Jay one last time, no, there’s no question about Jay’s toughness or anything like that,” Smith said. “For guys to even challenge that or question that, they don’t know what they’re talking about, don’t know that he’s as tough as any quarterback in the league. Really, I’ve kind of said enough about it.”

No more watching Tommie stand around, get pushed around, do nothing all game. Very very happy about that.

We will be drafting a DT in either the 1st or 2nd round. Book it.

the radio was talking about the last time a city had all of the big four pro sports teams in the playoffs in a row. the thot being with the hawks cup win, bears to the nfc championship game and bulls looking strong.....if a baseball team can show up would chicago be the first to accomplish the feat?
they mentioned boston with the pats and then the red sox and celts but the bruins sucked then. its been a good time to be a boston sports fan lately.

i'm thinking the bears better start measuring up if they intend to keep the sports fans of chicago teams interested. we've got a lot of pleasant distractions lately. halas hall has half azzed things long enough!

with a small stadium and a long waiting list I don't think they are too worried as long as we don't miss any games this season.
