This is from Bruce Miles this morning. Good stuff
So let’s have at it. As they say on the radio, the celebrity voice, that being Hendry’s, is impersonated by your intrepid baseball columnist:
“Obviously, we didn’t get off to the start any of us would have liked. Obviously, losing Derrek Lee was a big blow to our club.
“We obviously didn’t anticipate the injuries to Mark, and we thought Kerry and Wade would be able to join the rotation and stay there. Obviously, that didn’t happen.
“So I felt it unfair to Dusty to scapegoat him for a total organizational failure. Right before the all-star break, we turned it around, and I felt Dusty had the club playing well and playing hard. Obviously, we had a lot of young players both in the lineup and in the rotation, and I felt Dusty did a good job in bringing them along.
“We have lot of work to do during the off-season. I know one pesky reporter has been after us to start valuing on-base percentage and slugging percentage, but I’ll be looking for guys who have a track record of knocking in a run from third base or stealing a bag and for guys who can catch the ball. We’ll also look, obviously, at upgrading our starting rotation.
“With that in mind, I felt it only fair to ask Dusty back for 2007.”

Len Kasper radio interview with Milwaukee radio station. Discusses the importance of OBP. The make-up of this team probably drives him as nuts as the rest of us... www.sportsradio1250.com/Link is halfway down middle of page.

Wmljohn’s Week by week breakdown of the season:
Blue = Wining week +.500 Black = Break even week .500 Red = Losing week - .500
Week #1 Cubs were 4-1 (Split 1-1 @ Cin. Weekend sweep of the Tardinals @ Wrigley!) Week #2 Cubs were 3-3 (1-2 vs. Cincy @ Home BOO! Weekend sweep of the Pirates YEAAAAAAAHHHHH!) Week #3 Cubs were 3-3 (D-Lee down in Wed. win. Cubs lose Fri & Sat. Sunday 4-23 Jerome Williams down Angel Guzman up. Maddux 4-0 0.99 ERA) Week #4 Cubs were 3-3 (4-5 post D-Lee. Maddux 5-0 gives up 2 in 6 IP. Carlos sucking. Hill up Rush to BP and Aardsma gone) Week #5 Cubs were 1-6 (UGLY UGLY UGLY! What else can be said? Only bright spot was Carlos looking good but still not getting a win.) Week #6 Cubs were 1-6 (I just don’t even want to comment on how bad this team has been the last two weeks. It makes baby Jesus cry!) Week #7 Cubs were 3-3 (8-20 Post D-Lee but Wood is back.[/color] White Sox take 2 of 3 on the weekend) Week #8 Cubs were 0-6 (This is now just sickening! I almost can not stand watching it anymore!) Week #9 Cubs were 4-2 (OMG! The first winning week since week 1 of the season!) Week #9 Cubs were 4-3 (ANOTHER WINNING WEEK! Could they be turning the corner? Marmol looks good.) Week #10 Cubs were 0-6 (Back into the shitter for the Cubs. Mark Prior comes back and gets shelled big time!) Week #11 Cubs were 2-4 (Suck Suck Suck Suck) Week #12 Cubs were 2-5 (Lee is back and they still Suck Suck Suck Suck) Week #13 Cubs were 4-3 (The break is finally here. The Dusty Watch is in High gear! 20 under at the break!) Week #14 Cubs were 1-2 (Not a good weekend after the All Star game losing 2 of 3 to the Muts) Week #15 Cubs were 2-4 (GOT SWEPT BY THE FUCKING NATS! I wasted a whole day to go watch that shitty team play!) Week #16 Cubs were 6-1 (WOW! Nice week. Too bad it’s too little too late! 4 game weekend sweep of the Tardinals was great!) Week #17 Cubs were 4-3 (OMG two winning weeks in a row! Maddux is now a Dodger.) Week #18 Cubs were 2-4 (Back into the shitter. They go 2-4 but make up ½ game on the division leader. What a shitty division!)
Record by day:
Sunday: 10-9 Monday: 8-5 Tuesday: 7-10 Wednesday: 7-10 Thursday: 3-10 Friday: 7-12 Saturday: 7-12
Season record: 49-68
Dusty staying until the end. Then he gets his new contract.

The Cubs sucked in 2006. Do we need to have a topic to discuss that lousy team any further?
